Shoot The Moon (Norah Jones) - Guitar Solo
Let me introduce the beautiful guitar solo from Shoot The Moon with the video I recorded.
This song is from the great album by Norah Jones; Come Away With Me, which has won her the Grammys and has become people's all-time favorite since then.
A Song Beautifully Written
Allegedly, the most popular song from this album is Don't Know Why which was written by singer-songwriter Jesse Harris. It might not be widely recognized but he also wrote Shoot The Moon, and you can see both have a similar kind of beautiful and melancholic impression.
When you look into the writer in addition to the artist of your favorite song, you have great chances to find many more songs you will like.
Great Performance
This album brings out some real acoustic and organic sounds out of a mixture of jazz, country, folk, and blues.
Norah's singing is impeccable as usual, and the band weaves the song in colorful sounds. The album keeps giving its listeners unique and memorable sonic experiences as a result.
The Guitar Solo
Finally! Let's talk about the guitar playing. Beautiful acoustic guitar arpeggio can be heard throughout the song, and you can't miss the guitar solo full of taste.
This solo was played by Adam Levy who is also a singer-songwriter. His use of rest and pauses, the dynamic structure of it makes you feel as if he's talking to you through his guitar. This is one of my personal favorite solos, hands down.
Playing Tips
Though it's not so much of a tip, if you sing along to the melody as you play on your guitar, that would help you create a very real human sound. Enjoy the possibly very personal and emotional experience.
Enjoy playing!
